The Ghost Hunters of St. Louis Transcendental Society (G.H.O.S.T.S.), has been actively investigating the paranormal activity in the St. Louis, Missouri area since 1998. We have worked with many other paranormal research groups including the American Ghost Society (AGS), (Troy Taylor, president.) And the Ghost Research Society, based in Chicago (Dale Kasmerac).

We have investigated many claims of the paranormal in the St. Louis area, many of which were not hauntings at all but were attributed to natural causes. As paranormal investigators, it is our job to determine the haunting is genuine. There have been countless times I have been called to "check out" a claim and found that banging pipes sound a lot like foot steps and faulty electrical systems are more common than a ghost turning off the lights! That is why it is so important that we actually investigate the site.

Don’t let the name fool you, although we call ourselves "Ghost Hunters", we are in fact researchers! Unlike many other self proclaimed "ghost hunters", we are based solely on scientific research. There are, however, many groups that are trying very hard to intersect the paranormal into mainstream science. I believe it is a science. Just like years ago, when people started performing autopsy’s on the human body for medical purposes, most thought these so called "doctors" were demented for cutting up a dead body! Years later this has proven to be very helpful to scientific research and in the medical and forensic fields. So, when people think that paranormal investigation is "crazy", just remember, we once thought the world was flat as well!! Scientific research is crucial to proving that ghosts do indeed exist.

There is a major difference between a "ghost hunter" and a "ghost researcher". A ghost hunter is typically someone who runs around in circles, snapping off photos as fast as they can to simply capture a ghost on film. A ghost researcher, on the other hand, is much more credible. A good researcher will try and find an explanation for the haunting, if it is a haunting at all, through scientifical readings, photos, Electronic Voice Phenomena, and most importantly, the past history of the site proclaimed to be haunted.
