| High upon the cliffs, within a small secluded town, lies one
of the oldest cemeteries in the St. Louis area. It all started in the early
1800’s, when a wealthy family migrated to this small town. The Miles family
bought hundreds of acres of land in the area. Miles build his home
four hundred feet above this land on a cliff to watch his slaves work on
the land below. The land atop the cliff is approximately. 2 acres.
Years later, as the Miles family depleted, a cemetery was build
on the site where the house once was. The Miles family was very proud of
their work and also their wealth. In the mid 1980’s vandalism within the
cemetery was at its peak. Many teen-agers were arrested during this period.
The cemetery today is in a poor state, therefore its location will be kept
from the general public at this time. Many believe this is why the
cemetery is “haunted”. The Miles family worked very hard to maintain
this land, and maybe, still do so.
THE INVESTIGATION
Many G.H.O.S.T.S. official investigations have been held at this site.
We feel this is an ongoing investigative interest. There have been
many occurrences here that many would consider "paranormal”. From
moving cold spots, paranormal EMF readings, and pictures of Orbs and mists.
In one field investigation, live, freshly picked flowers were found lying
on the concrete bench during the cold season. These were not found during
the initial sweep of the grounds and no one had entered the graveyard at
this time. This is just one of the many unexplainable events that have
occurred at this site.
